Transparent case for iPhone XR
With the launch of the iPhone XR at the end of October there was also a surprising absence: there was no official case for this terminal. Although the existence of a transparent case for the iPhone XR was proven thanks to a press release on the Canadian apple website. But it wasn’t until last week that it came true.
Last Friday, the first units arrived at the Apple Store in Sol, at which point I took the opportunity to get one. I’ve been testing it this weekend and I have no doubts: this is the best case there is for the iPhone XR.
So is the transparent case for iPhone XR
The transparent case of the iPhone XR comes in an equally crystalline case with a paper or cardboard back. As is typical of Apple, we pull the green fringe in a corner to make it open in a most satisfying way. With the case in hand, we’ll notice one thing: it’s not your typical transparent iPhone case.
First of all, because it doesn’t smell like rubber. Smells like a new tech product, if that smell exists (perhaps in the form of a candle). To the touch it is very soft. It’s not slippery but it also doesn’t cling to anything like other materials. It is easy to insert and take out of the pocket of pants, even if they are tight.
I must say, it’s unexpectedly rigid. This transparent case is not easy to place. And difficult to remove, precisely because of that rigidity. It’s not something you’re going to want to do on a regular basis. Keep this in mind if you like to rotate the case on your iPhone XR. As for its level of transparency, it also collides how crystalline it is. If you hold it in your hand, you can see what’s behind it as if it were a crystal.
-As soon as you hold the case in your hands you realize that its quality is playing in a very different league-
If you’ve had a transparent iPhone case from other manufacturers in the past, you’ll know they’re usually quite flexible. Very easy to place and remove from the phone. But they also suffer from two flaws. The first is that they end up deforming. The second is that they turn yellow over the next few weeks. All that I’ve had or have had family and friends have suffered both flaws. All.
In the short time I have been with her, both defects are not present. This is important, because in my experience some transparent covers already bring them as standard: deformities in the volume buttons and a yellowish tone that is accentuated over time.
It’s impossible to know if this iPhone XR case will stand impassive ly for days, but the start is promising. Apple claims this case is made of «a mixture of clear polycarbonate and flexible thermoplastic polyurethane».
Another issue that is important to me is how the buttons feel. The official leather case for the iPhone XS has metal buttons that do quite click. Naturally, the transparent iPhone XR case doesn’t have these buttons, it just surrounds and covers them. The feeling when squeezing them is dampened and you may not notice it in some situations. But the click is still there.
The quality of the iPhone XR case comes at a price
In the days after the launch of this case, I saw numerous comments on Twitter that compared it to what you can get in online stores or in the bazaar on the corner of your house. The argument was going in the direction of «for that price I can buy 20 cases and change them whenever I want».
-This iPhone XR case is the best option to protect and show off the colors of this model-
The transparent case of the iPhone XR costs 45 euros, an amount that seems excessive if we are comparing it with those sold in bulk. But in my experience, it has nothing to do with it. You’ll always find more affordable options to Apple’s, but the ones offered by the company offer a much higher quality, in general (in my opinion, Mujjo also offers great quality in its products). And it is here, with this transparent case, that this difference is even more obvious.
As we saw in the previous section, it is not possible to know how this case will suffer the passage of time. What’s more, on a yellow iPhone XR like the one we have you probably won’t notice at first a hypothetical yellowing of the case. But we’ll be watching any change in color.
If you have a yellow, red, coral or blue iPhone XR, it is almost essential to get hold of a transparent case if your thing is to protect your phone. In my case, it may be the first case in a long time that I have been on a regular basis on an iPhone.
